Sneak Peek into The Mercedes E-Class 2020
The all new Mercedes E-Class 2020 is reported to represent
enhanced dynamics and upgrades as the German carmaker prepares to launch it
India by the end of 2020.
Mercedes Benz was actually supposed to debut the 2020 E-Class
facelift at the Geneva Motor Show this year. However, with the motor shows getting
cancelled due to the lockdown, Mercedes had to debut the updated sedan outside
the event. The 2020 Mercedes Benz E-Class facelift brings with it an updated
exterior design along with an updated infotainment system. It also boasts of a
new plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Mercedes E-Class facelift is announced to
make it to India by the second half of 2020.
The front end of the car displays increased chrome content that plays a
role in the fresh appearance of the vehicle. For instance, the front grille of
the Avantgarde Line of the Mercedes E-class was redesigned with vertical
high-gloss black struts and two chrome louvres. The Chrome and high-gloss trim
look elements in the front hood emphasize the sporty and elegant appearance of
the brand-new model. Similarly, the Exclusive Line comes with the special
grille, the upright star on the bonnet as well as the large chrome elements in
the front hood. The AMG Line with a new stylish hood for the Performance models
looks even sportier. Also, Avantgarde, AMG Line and All-Terrain lines feature a
bonnet that comes with power domes. Adding to that, the E-Class features
all-LED headlights as standard.
Most
importantly, the Mercedes E-Class 2020 comes with four different engine options
under the bonnet – a 2.0-litre four-cylinder M 254 petrol, a 2.0-litre
four-cylinder OM 656 diesel, a 3.0-litre six-cylinder M 256 petrol and a
3.0-litre six-cylinder OM 256 diesel. On the other hand, the diesel
engines have three catalytic converters and two-stage catalytic reduction.
Also, the M 254 is the petrol plug-in hybrid powertrain which has a 48-volt
mild-hybrid system and adds to it the 20PS and 180Nm of torque for a total
power output of 292PS. The car maker is yet to disclose the specs of each of
these engines.
Coming to the interior, the luxurious seats combine the Mercedes-Benz
long-distance suitability features with its avant-garde design. The driver’s
seat has adjustment options that is particularly convenient to suit a specific
person’s needs: the seat moves into a usually fitting position when the height
of the body is entered on the media display via Mercedes me. It needs to be
fine-tuned by the driver before driving.
The front seats design also accentuates the sporty look of the interior.
The seats offer strong lateral support and the seat contour follows the
pronounced side bolsters without compromising on the comfort. The centre area
has sporty modern longitudinal seams. The texture and colour of the middle
sections of the seat backrest is matched to the overall look of the seats.
For now, Mercedes Benz India has only showcased the sedan and
all-terrain models and says that the cabriolet and coupe long wheelbase models
will be rolled out soon for launch. The E-Class is the most popular model of
Mercedes Benz and it is expected to arrive to our shores by the end of 2020. However,
India cannot expect a plug-in hybrid variant to come soon. Also, buyers can expect
a price hike over the 2019 model which is currently ranged between Rs 59.08
lakh to Rs 1.50 crore
